I'm using AutoCAD occasionally for my university degree, and was wondering if there's a mac version available, or similar software that'll run on a 1.5GHz G4 Powerbook with 1Gb RAM and 64Mb graphics card?

It'd be nice to practise my CAD without having to go down to the computer lab :)

Autodesk hasn't released Autocad for OSX(I don't know how Intel change will effect the future)try here for Mac alternatives:

I use vectorworks - http://www.nemetschek.net/ - and think in many ways, I'm an architect not an engineer, it's superior to autocad. It's also quite easy to collaborate with a-cad users, importing and exporting files as .dwg.

Am I blind, or is there no mention of a price on that site?

No, you're not blind - it's really difficult to find the prices. It seems you have to contact them or one of their resellers to find out more... strange system... I've noticed before it's the same with formZ. Practically impossible to find out if you can be allowed to buy it at all:confused:

But I assume it's rather expensive. They something for students though... check it out.

My biggest reason for never using Mac is because of AutoCAD. The last AutoCAD I bought was 2000 with Desktop 3. I still use it when old clients call on me. However, long ago when I saw the new emacs on TV and I wanted one badly I called Autodesk and they said they were currently working on AutoCAD for Mac. Obviously nearly 5 years later they have not released even a beta to their customers. I recently called them because I have a pending sale on my windows machine and even though there are about 4 other windows boxes at my disposal, nothing feels better than my machine. Autodesk takes the stand that they're working on it. I asked about the mac-intel deal, and they kindly said that just because there is an intel chip coming doesn't make it possible to run windows. I just hung up from there. ;)

So no as everyone has said there isn't. But, I have yet to find a good replacement for it.

I actually found a few resellers so it gives you an idea of price anyways, your best bet if your serious is to get a direct quote, but depending on which version you need/get the price can range from $900 to what appears to be $2200 US, yikes

    Anyways for reference...
