I'm willing to do something...just give me some ideas about what you want...you can e-mail me at ArtMan617@hotmail.com or atArtMan617@mac.com (although the mac.com account may not be around much longer...damn you .mac!).

Basically, if you want to find the right avatar, find whatever you have a passion/fondness for in the form of a picture and place it as your avatar. I basically said this to asurace, when he had no idea what to use with his avatar. Look at mine and mc68k's 'tar. We represent something about our user names on the forums for an avatar. It's not a bad idea at all.

BTW, way to go on 500.

something cool? its just like art and very subjective - what's cool is a matter of personal taste.

are there any on the forums now you like or don't like - thats a good start. also, what does you name stand for?

Another good place to start is what you do on your mac. I do graphics work and listen to music a lot on mine hence the iTunes avatar.

and jaguar - these are all transparent gifs, btw

all of these are actually really nice icons/avatars and with a little playing around you could animate them nicely - make the sphere's in connect anywhere change color or some such thing....

    Re: nice!!

It came at 150*150 or something and i put it down to 40*40 to keep under the space limit (20k)...Because i didn't know if there was a way of doing it otherwise...

I think I'll go and get an icon from somewhere and use that...spidey up for grabs..

How do you get an Avatar?

Do you have to be a Macrumors 'Demi-God' or something?
    Help , I'm confused!!!!:(

Yeah, that's what I thought, they are pretty slick and they'd be a great 'tar. Who ever wants them can take them. I had to work them a bit to get them as transparent gifs.

Joshlew, you need to have 500 posts to get an avatar - or win won of the avatar contests, but the contests won't be done again for 5 more months or even a year, depending on if we do one sooner or not.

Apple puts a lot of effort in designing icons, they are always incredibly nice.

I can't think of any members with Q in their name, but that quartz extreme icon is just screaming to be used.

which icon are you talking about, or all of them in general?

taft uses a modified version of an apple icon - color manager or some such, not sure.
