I think it must just be Murphy's law or my bad luck, but I was all ready for my MacBook to get here today since the status said it was on the truck for delivery. I was waiting and waiting for the delivery person to knock on my door and for me to get my macbook. I finally hear the door knock. Could this be it?! Nope. It was my neighbor from the apartment below me with my door tag. The darn delivery person went to the back of the building, which only has doors for the lower floor apartments and left the tag there. I wish I could pick it up, but I don't feel like driving 100 miles round trip just to go pick it up. I just got off the phone with FedEx and made sure to give them specific instructions on where to go, so hopefully they won't screw up again tomorrow. I've never had this problem with UPS. At least they know where to go, and if they miss me there is a local office to pick up packages. This has made me even more anxious to get my MacBook.

hey, everyone's always anxious when they buy something from the internet. my ipod mini arrived at my local ups center the day before thanksgiving break two yrs ago and i went to pick it up because they missed my house for delivery that day and they said they couldnt find it. i leave for vacation the next day, but when i got back, they found it. i went a few days without my ipod but that was ok. its like wanting to go to the bathroom really badly almost :D

Great news! My luck has changed! The driver came back because she had another retry in the area and noticed her error in going to the wrong doors. I am now happily posting on my new MacBook. :)

It's funny that you have problems with FedEx when for myself it's the exact opposite. UPS always seems to lose or delay my packages. I've never had a single problem with FedEx or DHL. It'd be nice if Apple would ship DHL. Then you would have woken up with your laptop waiting at your doorstep. :)

I guess it just depends on the situations where you live. I have to admit though, FedEx got it here real quick.

I had Fedex lost my G5 PowerMac here in Manhhattan 2 years ago. As a result, I had to wait for another 2 weeks before I receive a replacement from Apple. Fedex had to file that it is officially lost before Apple will send a new one. So I am very wary of Fedex since. I wish Apple will offer a choice of courir service. :(

Can't really say the same thing about DHL in other parts of the country. DHL seems really hit or miss in terms of service - great in some places, horrible in others.

    Fedex is Consistent (consistently bad)

I ordered two Macbook Pros from Apple on July 7th and they were supposed to come on the 11th before 10:30am via Fedex. Anyway, they got mixed up somewhere but Fedex told me they'd be here today before 10:30am.

Ok, well one of my laptops was delivered this morning to a P.Mercado who is not me!!!! And, I live in Research Park in Austin, which happens to have Apple offices, and the other laptop was delivered to APPLE !!! Two, $3,000 laptops and they’re just dropped arbitrarily somewhere.

And the Fedex person on the phone is basically telling us there’s nothing they can do, and that it should work its way out. They’re supposed to be calling us back.

I ordered the 2-3 day option for delivery from Apple but wasn't aware that would be Fedex. For some reason 5 out of the 5 times I've used Fedex lately have been nightmares.

around me, apple uses DHL for it's delivery services and i've never had any problems. they're quick and reliable.

my fiance has had horrible luck with UPS, though (through his work) - they're constantly delivering broken products that Dell then has to replace.

lol i think if i ever need to be a ups/fedex driver, i would purposely delay the shipments from apple just to mess with ppl :)

in case you think i'm sadistic, i am :) i've been in the same boat...waiting for something....the days sure seem longer at those times :)

One thing to keep in mind is that FedEx offers two services, Ground and Express.

FedEx Ground service has always been very inconsistent for me. It seems to be a completely different service from the regular FedEx Express(different drivers, etc.). I've never had any problems with the regular FedEx, and consider it to be the most reliable overnight shipper. I think their spotty Ground service could tarnish their overall reputation. (I don't know whether the OP was talking about Fedex Ground or not.)

This is my pet peeve. Many issues with companies (not all obviously) are related to the individual worker, not the company or company policies or proceedures.

I have a horrible time with fed Ex and UPS- they always try to deliver packages to my rural school arouund 6 or 7 at NIGHT. What are they thinking? This particular instance is the company- they just put things on their list according to address, not usual business hours. We got one driver to correct this, but the other company still does it!

Actually, funny story. I went to work (please be aware this was before the big switch), and the second I walked in, a very very mad DHL woman started cussing me out! And I mean NONSTOP!! Of course, I didn't get what she was saying so I asked her nicely "Sorry, but, what are you talking about?". {Before all this, I had received a Dell but read about Apple and decided to return the Dell and get a refund, so I followed the instructions, but instead of putting the blue slip on the top of the box (that is how they get paid, it proves DHL shipped your package), I left it in the sealed box, thinking it was something for Dell}. So I guess I made an honest mistake, but no need for a big cuss-out.

But, as for FedEx, I have to agree. They have delivered ALL of my Apples {boy that sounded odd}, and now I use them for everything. Just never DHL. Oh well...

To the OP: Congrats on the MB! I am waiting for mine, a black one. Estimated Arrival Date, Aug. 1, 2006.:D
