This might be a foolish question, but how does someone go about getting banned of macrumors? I've seen a few people get banned and i wanted to know what does one do to get banned.

If you're worried about it, just read the rules, follow them and you'll be . I'm not sure the mods want the juicy details of specific stories mentioned.

Violation of forum rules. The exact reason a specific member gets banned is between the member and the mods, but it's sometimes obvious from their posts what happened (although often some of the final posts are deleted).

Bannings may be temporary or permanent. Reregistering after banning is prohibited.

It's tough to be banned so people really have to work at it.

There haven't been a lot of regular members who have been banned but they usually make a mess before they leave.

I'm a member of Kryptonsite.com and you should read their rules. The rules are a 12-page doozy of a scroll (on my 12" PB). :p

I think that being the big M$ fanboy gets one banned very quickly here.

Mods ban people for great reasons. It's the reason the process is so transparent - their reasons are always beyond reproach!

You can try posting "Powerbook G5 will be released this coming Tuesday" multiple times.

    Things not to do:

    1. Don't make single smiley posts.

    2. Don't post links to porn sites.

Do those people who were banned get some prior warning before they are banned?
I wonder if those people who were banned come back under new name to start all over again.

Often people will get a 'mini ban' for a few days to cool off, if they carry on with their bad behaviour when the ban is lifted then they get a permanent ban. Of course, people can (and have been, I'm sure) banned permanently for serious offences straight away.

As for coming back under a new alias – I believe doing such a thing breaks forum rules so you're liable to get rebanned if you're found out. ;)

Puleeze. I'm the Dell/HP/Sony/Lenovo/Toshiba/Fujitsu fanboy. I refuse to pick sides between a nerdy bully with ultimate perseverance and diligence to make up for his total lack of talent and style, or a megalomaniac sociopath with a sense of design and usability who can blind the easily led :p

Maybe the Mini pushed him over the edge when he saw just how much extra computing power he could get from the Dark Side... I have yet to reach the 4000-post slough of despond.

No, not if you're polite and open-minded in your discussions. Unfortunately Mac v PC threads are more likely degenerate into a name-calling, personal insult-flying, trolling melee so banning, temporary or otherwise, is more likely too.

That isn't entirely true. Unless your definition and my definition of mess are that different, but then again I wouldn't doubt that they are. ;)

Can Demi-God or Demi-Goddes be banned as well? Or, are they above the rules?
