My budget is around £500, ethernet is a must. Borderless would also be good. Colour production has to be good as well since I do a bit of print work for clients now and then. Small business use.

    Any recommendations?

I have a HP Photosmart 7960 that I can use for photos, so I don't really mind if it can't do photos well.

I am also in the market for one but i don't need ethernet.
I just need it for printing off tags to card-stock quickly and with decent quality.

I found a Dell 3100cn color printer for under $300 when they were having a refurb sale a couple of months ago. This thing got the best ratings for any color printer I've seen (the only downside being its size and 75 pound weight). It' prints borderless and the color and B/W prints are amazing. It's also ethernet-enabled. Look it up on to get a more thorough review and see if it's what you need.

lol that's a beast. My office is only 2.5x2.5m, is heat an issue with laser printers? Could I stick in on the floor under my desk?

Just found out Dell don't deliver to where I live :(

Color laser printers in the US$300-400 range are now common. The are all big, they all draw a lot of power and they mostly are very noisy. The cost of consumables is also quite high, though less expensive per page than ink jet. There's no such thing as "best." Some have better color fidelity, others are better for text and blacks, others have better features. Some have quieter operation. But don't make the mistake I made. If you're at all used to PostScript halftones and text printing, then don't buy a laser printer without PostScript support.

I find the HP 2550n very very good. Can be had for about £450.

And, it also has mDNS built in :D
