What's the best FTP app for Mac out there today ?
I have only had experience with FTP via terminal or Yummy FTP.
I can recommend Yummy FTP very simple to use, does what i need it to. Worth checking out
ive used them all...every one of them..
The best in my opinion is Transmit.
It has never had any upload errors and the navigation with sidebars like OS X is fantastic and really quick to use.
The latest one is really quick
my 2 pence
Transmit is the best, though it isn't free, for free clients you have Cyberduck or Fugu for SFTP.
Another vote for Transmit.
I use Cyberduck when I have a need for ftp, and it works well enough for me. And it's free.
I'll throw in another vote for Cyberduck. Good unless you're doing a ton of FTPing, it should more then cover you. Plus, like TPAM said, it's free, and you can't argue with free.
gosh, i don't think i've even posted an intro thread but...
i have only used fetch.
i love it!
you can use it free for 15 days and the license is only $25.
i believe upgrades are free.
i've never EVER had any problems operating it on either mac classic or mac os x.
Transmit gets my vote. love it.
you only love fetch coz you havnt used transmit
LMAO! i'm downloading as i type.
i'm gonna come back looking for you if i don't like it.
seriously tho, thanks for the tip,
i can always use two ftp's
.. one for each of my machines.
I have a question about Transmit.
My dad uses CuteFTP and does all of his work on windows. He access his sever and stuff off of windows. He wants me to help him wit a site and is going to buy an FTP program. He wants to buy CuteFTP for mac for me. Would transmit be better? Would it do the same thing, would there be any problems if it's a different program?
They may seem like noob questions, but I know nothing of FTP programs. thanks for the help.
No, there wouldn't be any problems if you used Transmit & your dad used CoolFTP. But Transmit is better.
i came back!
alright, i spoke too soon. i downloaded and installed it. i've been nosing around with it and i've decided i really liked the features!
i'll be picking up a license soon.
Go Go Cyberduck!
I used Fugu for a little while. I really like the side-by-side GUI (similar to Transmit), but ultimately I went back to Cyberduck. Have they updated Fugu at all recently? When I used it last, it had been a year to two since it was updated last...
I use CuteFTP. It does what it does, works great with both PPC and intel.
I have used several in search of the one I feel works best
Cyberduck is that one
- Yummy FTP
Another vote for Fetch
P.S. The most recent version of Fetch will work for longer than 15 days but you have to wait 1 second for each day past 15 ( I am still using the trial and just haven't had a need to re-boot and just keep it running )
Before Fetch I was using an old version of Captain FTP
I like Fetch, so much so that I paid for it It's very cheap and does an admirable job.
I like Cyberduck. It's the only FTP program I've used on a Mac, though, so my word might not count for much.
