My son is 11 his preferred games are Age of Empires and WoW. However, his computer access is now limited to a G3 600mz iMac (not to mention the WoW internet access fees are a non starter). Can you recommend any role playing or action games that would work reasonably well on this faithful old machine? Thanks.

There are a ton of threads on old Mac games... That being said, all you need is starcraft and maybe diablo 2. :)

Nanosaur! :D (came originally with iMac)

Seriously, Starcraft is a good one, and I know I spent countless hours on Star Control 3 for OS 9.

Heck yes, a buddy and I regularly play on Battle.Net with Brood Wars.

We also do Diablo II and War2 BNE (and since all G3 iMacs can boot into OS 9, Diablo II and Warcraft II become viable options, since the OS 9 port of Diablo II runs with RAVE - faster than OpenGL on that machine - and Warcraft II runs native)

    Warcraft 3

warcraft three is kind of like WoW exept you don't have to pay internet access fees unfortunently it requires a more powerful computer but so does WoW so I asume that you actually have a more powerful computer :p

    P.S. reconise me? :D

Starcraft and Diablo II are great on a G3 iMac - I personally am a Diablo II fan. Myth I and II are also excellent games that run well. You can also use Virtual Game Station to play many Playstation (the original) games - if you can find a copy.

For more of the RPG type, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 are pretty popular.

Myth. I and II, not III (not because it won't do it, it's just not as good...)

At 11 though...How about Civilization III. Less violent (if that is a concern) and more cerebral, which is never a bad thing.

Oh, and you can't forget the original Unreal Tournament, which runs well on G3 iMacs and is still a remarkably entertaining First Person Shooter (FPS) depite its age.
