I've did a search and couldn't find such a thread so I've decided to create one.

    Massive attack - Protection.

It's a few years old, but I don't understand how it's done. One shot of an apartment block looking through different windows but its shot from ..... Ahh ya just have to see it and look carefully. Tear drop is pretty good too.

    NIN - Perfect Drug

Apparently one of the most expensive music videos made.

    Radio head - Street spirit

I'll think of some more later.

    Re: Best music video

 Why should it have been so expensive? I don´t see too many expensive things there.
Scream by Michael Jackson - that DID cost :D

I wouldn't call it the best music video, but "Stacy's Mom" by Fountains of Wayne is the funniest one I've seen in a while...

    Re: Re: Best music video

All the props used. They created a huge freezer to do alot of the shots in which cost alot. I think Scream tops it though.

All pretty main stream so far.

Some of tools video clips are pretty cool. All done by Adam Jones the guitarist if I recall correctly.

White Stripes - 7 Nation Army
    Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity.
Weezer - Island in the sun and the one with the Muppets.
The Roots - The next Movement
The Black Seeds - Keep on Pushing
Most of the Chemical Brothers videos.

I know there's so many more but I just can't think of any.

Although not really a music video, has anyone seen Man with a movie camara by Cinematic orchestra?

I would have to say Calling All Angels by Train for many reasons:

    1. The graphics are AWESOME!

    2. They were done using After Effects and Final Cut Pro on a 400Mhz original TiBook.

    3. I know the guy (Shaun Peterson) who directed and edited the video.

    4. I have personally worked with Shaun at a volunteer video project for the Missouri Boys State program and used the laptop which that video was made on.

What's so good about this video?

    I think its pretty plain.

The song is pretty good. The best part of the song is the opening part.

I don't know that many people into The Postal Service. A friend told me about them, and I love their songs. They're uplifting, and relaxing. I have yet to see their music video, though. I'd also buy their album if it was on the iTMS (which hopefully it will be soon...)

Edit: Never mine, they are on the iTMS, as of September 23... It's funny that I didn't see them, because I've been looking. I Need to buy that album, and Welcome Interstate Managers by Fountains of Wayne... I just need to make sure I have enough money for important stuff, being a poor, starving college student :p )

Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was..

The best music video ever is STILL The Talking Head's "Once in a Lifetime".

    And you may ask yourself
    Where is that large automobile?
    And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
    And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!

Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was...Same as it ever was..

I think Freak on a Leash by Korn is damn cool, watching the bullet hit everything and smash it in slo-mo awesome.

But for 'entertainment value' I think them awards can go to either

    Britney spears - Slave
    Christina Augillera - Dirrty
    or thats Stacey's Mom Clip

hmmmmm.... this is a bit of a toughie...

Portishead, 'Only You' was pretty special... but Cunningham is one of the greatest video directors ever....

    http://www.director-file.com/cunningham/524.html

R.E.M. 'Imitation Of Life', where it forwards and reverses the footage and zooms in to people singing key phrases from the song... they actually only used 20 seconds of footage to make the whole video.

Underworld 'Two Months Off', just a strikingly beautiful promo, involving floating, and rainbows and water....

Massive Attack 'Teardrop' with the baby singing in the womb...

R.E.M. 'Low', stonking promo, where by a painting is animated, between live and stop motion animation, the video extends upon the landscape of the painting... giving hints of what was happening during the time captured by the painting.

I think the MJ and JJ Scream cost so much because of the amount of Flame work required to fix his face.... £750 an hour.... it ain't cheap you know!! heh-heh-heh!!

Electric 6's Gay Bar is a current favourite, along with Tenacious D's Tribute, I like a sense of humour...

Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill and Babooshka (for obvious reasons).

The live vid of Pearl Jam and Neil Young ripping up the Grammys with Rockin in the Free World, made Wacko Jacko look like the empty shell he really is.

Godley and Creme's Cry, no CGI in that sucker.

The last video Johnny Cash made, I don't remember the song title, but the vid is stark and beautiful.

Both of the Cake videos for "Short Skirt, Long Jacket". Or pretty much anything directed by Spike Jonze, like "Weapon of Choice", "Praise You", or "It's Oh So Quiet".

And let us not forget Miss Kylie Minogue and "Can't Get You Out of My Head". It's hypnotic.

For a purely ridiculous, hillarious video, check out Junior Senior's Move Your Feet.

The graphics are meant to look like an old nintendo game, and I think it succeeds.
