Hey guys...im going to buy the 15.2" power book...but i was looking for a good place to buy it, where it might be under sticker price. 1999 is a good amount of money off of the apple site, I was wondering if anyone knew of a place that i could buy it for cheaper, but it still had good credibility, not like a rip off site. So please let me know if you know of a place that i could buy that computer cheaper. Thanks

It is very hard to find Apple products on discount - your best bet; find a friend that qualifies for the edu discount, and have them buy it for you.

Good point. At certain times Amazon can be good place too or the sales section or Apple's website has some up from time to time.

    DAMN!! Beat me to it!

Apple have a very strict pricing policy so it is unlikely you'll find one at a substantial discount. From what I hear the Amazon US store often has discounts but make sure it's the current model you are looking at. If you are in the US, have a look at the refurb store, they're older models and have been used but they are fully backed by Apple and should work fine. If you are a tertiary student you can get a good education discount - head on over to the online education store to have a look, the 15" PB at education pricing is US$1799, the 12" is US$1399.

    Damn, those are good prices...

Here the education price of a 15" PowerBook is AUD$2814.90 or close to US$2100. The 12" is the equivalent of US$1625.

I bought a floor model at Fry's Electronics. They negotiate a lot there too. They wanted $1999 for my 15" Powerbook (with superdrive) and I got them to sell for $1899. Just don't try to return it! That's a little cumbersome there. Fry's online version is outpost.com

If you live in Australia (like everyone should :p ), get it from Streetwise. They ship all across the country for a reasonable price, and they know their macs. They are cehaper than the Apple retail, sometimes by a couple of hundred $$$. But they can't beat the Apple Ed price, If you know someone who would use their details to get you a mac, use that.

    Edu discounts

Man, I love them educational discounts. It's a shame that I'm graduating college, and can't quite afford or justify a new Mac yet. My younger brother, however, will be in college for another year, so perhaps a year and a half from now, I'll be enjoying a new computer.
