What is the best opinion for the video settings when running Doom 3 on a iMac "20 2.1GHz with 1.5GB ram.

    Thanks.

Best settings are subjective, in my opinion. Try setting everything to max and then scale down the details until you reach the performance (fps) you consider acceptable to play the game.

While in the game, bring up the console pressing [Control]+[Option]+[~] and type "com_showFPS 1".
That is just a number though, it's you that decide when a game is fast enough to be enjoyable.

    edit:
i also found this article about doom 3 performance tweaks, you might want to give it a read: http://www.barefeats.com/doom3.html

I play D3 at *High, 1024x640, everything ON in the Advanced Settings except AA and shadows*. Runs very nice (18-60 fps, with 25+ most of the time)

BTW I have rev. B iMac 2 Ghz, 1.5 GB RAM, Radeon 9600. Yours is a bit faster, so you can eneble shadows and have about the same performance as i get. :)
