Hi there,

I'm looking for a sturdy and well designed stand for my iPad 2, I currently have the Cygnett SecondSkin silicone case installed (which is really good actually!) but I'm looking for a well designed quality stand which can hold the iPad in it's case, with the charger connected in landscape and portrait mode. I've seen the upStand and twelve south's offerings, was just wondering if anyone has a particularly good stand they can recommend? Or if anyone has thoughts on the upStand or the Bookarc style stand from twelve south.

Many thanks
Sam

There re a ton of stands/holders at any office supply store for $3 or less that will do what you want. Bamboo, metal, plexiglas

Have a shop round on stables for 'holder'

Thanks guys, but I already have a leather folio style case which doubles as a stand, what I'm really looking for something more permanent and good quality to work with my silicone case while I'm at home.

Stay away from umbrella stands, lemonade stands, and Ms. Under Stand (she always gets things wrong). I'd recommend the keyboard dock as a stand, but it only holds the iPad in portrait (short end down). :D

I cant really say this is the best stand since I havent tried them all. But I have tried the flip blade from belkin and the compass from twelve south. I have the irest from rain design and am very happy with it. Ive had it for 2 weeks now and it works with swith easy cover budddy and smart cover on. It is very versatile and adjustable. I guess the main thing I like about is that you can use it on surfaces are not level like ur lap, bed and sofa. It also works great on tables and desks. The only thing is its pricey at $50. Lots of great reviews
for it on ilounge and macworld.

Any book stand will work too.

All I'm saying is, find a design you like that can hold just about anything, and then see if it fits. Buying a 'good quality stand' is one thing.. paying more for less because it was 'designed for ipad' is just silly.

There are some awesome book stands out there for the same $20-30 people are charging for a bit of metal or plastic .

Hmm, thanks for the tip! Call me stupid, but I hadn't even thought of that. I don't care whether it's made for iPad or not, i just want to buy something thats well made and well designed!

Thanks

Anybody seen the wooden DoveStand? I found it on stumbleupon the other night. I'm thinking its new but idk. I'm waiting for it to come out and to see a review before I decide. I'm a sucker for handmade products - not everyones cup of tea - but I just thought id throw it out there. Good luck!

I've got the Twelve South Compass stand. It's well made and sturdy and works in both portrait and landscape mode. It's also portable and easily carried on trips.

This is the current top-rated ipad stand on Ilounge:

http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-FlipBl...RE2O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327666819&sr=8-1

I've ordered it, but have not yet received it.

Works very well. I purchased mine from Belkin on a 50% off sale. I use it on my bedside table and when I travel. (Folds flat and fits in my bag easily.) Only issue to consider is that a thick case may not fit in the slot for the iPad.

Another popular reading stand is the Wedge-E. (http://wedge-e.net/). Very light. Works on the lap or a table/desk. Works with various devices (e.g. iPad, Kindle models, etc.)
