Well I emailed Aspyr the other day about porting Battlefield and this was my email and their response.

    Me
"I know you guys will probably not read this and probably throw it away.
You need to tell the head hancho who decides this stuff to port
Battlefield 1942 to mac. WW2 Online sucks and you guys will have it
made if you port this. Forget Sim Cuty 4, this is what needs to be
ported. Plus you guys are the only ones who know how to make ports,
Macsoft is terrible. If you actually read this could you repspond and
tell me if this is at all possible."

    Aspyr
    "Howdy,

Sorry, but we already approached the developer and they weren't interested
in making their engine code available for someone to port. Unless they
change their mind, it probably isn't going to happen.

Thanks for thinking of us, though.

    John"

Looks like my pc will reamin next to mac. this is such a dissapointment, im sorry for you mac users who cant have quality games come to us.

    <dramatic cry of rage>HHHUUUUUURRRRAAAAAAA!!!</dramatic cry of rage>

Damnnation, whats holding them back? They could make a lot of $$$ off the liscensing, and I'm sure the mac gaming community would jump on this game if it ever came out, but now that is just a lost hope. I hope this doesnt happen much more... its things like these that prevent switching. My friends' biggest arguments for "macs suck" is no Counter Strike, and that's just one old game. Now there may be two. :(

Not to break the subject too much, but has anyone tried a linux partition on their mac with WINE? It's supposed to allow you to play PC games (and other PC stuff), but how well remains in question. Then you could play the PC games like the ARMY game, CS, or BF without dropping a dime (game sold separately. void where prohibited)

arent games also designed to run on certain processors, so wouldnt the games need to be designed for a ppc processor even if it was a linux game. That would be really cool if I was wrong (cant remember the last time I wished I was wrong).

I think they are designed for specific processors. For example, in RtCW's console, it says Mac OS PPC or something like that, while in the screenshots of the PC version, it says x86
