I did a clean install of Tiger and tried to install Windows Media Player 9. The download at the Microsoft site is offered in both BIN and HQX formats, but Tiger won't open either.

In a search I noticed someone else wasn't able to open a BIN file (AIM).

Any clues?

Interesting, the .bin file should be automatically decompressed by Safari when you download it. However, you should also be able to decompress it manually. Maybe you have to install StuffIt Expander.

Do you have Office 2004? There's a copy of Windows Media Player on the CD.

I just finished a clean install (losing Stuffit) and was updating Office v.X back up to 10.1.6 (or something like that) and the BIN file wont automatically unzip but the hqx file worked perfectly. It's really strange, I would have thought it'd be the other way around.

Thanks. The file on the Office 2004 CD worked fine.
