Has anyone noticed that suprnova.org, most popular place for torrents, is now charging for a membership? I am very out done by this.

Why would they do this, they have enough pop ups.

zipped - passworded .rar files(sneaky bastards).......

nothing pisses me off more then after wasting 200-300mb's of bandwith only to find the file passworded

It's .com and .net that charge for memberships. As far as I'm aware .org is still membership free. As far as pop-ups, I've never noticed any...but I do have Safari's block pop-up option selected! ;) :)

I'd check and make sure your going to suprnova.org, and not suprnova.com or suprnova.net, both of them charge membership I believe.

you can usually fix that by either leaving it blank, or looking for a unique word in the file name.

.org! .com and .net are scammers. I use un-rar and havn't had a problem. Why do they rar those things? THey aren't smaller, is that the VCD format?

It would be wastelanded because I cannot see how suprnova.org can be legal at all, if there is a legal way/reason to use it, please enlighten me.

I know mine was a week or two back.

    Then I called them...
guy on phone: 'we don't do that... lemme check... *grumble* not working, must be server problem'
    me: ping the server.
guy: alright... workin... ummm... problem will be resolved I'm sure.

Don't forget Freeware and also Recorded Live Concerts! You can record them and place them in internet with no one coming after you for it. :D

Though I wouldn't put those on Suprnova. It's like saying you like using the Black Market to purchase artwork. Totally the wrong outlet.

They were labeling all BitTorrent as vile and horrible, but even Suprnova has legal stuff on it.

I think automatically labelling a conversation about a site like suprnova as illegal and wasteland material is irrational. Just as you CAN download pirated stuff on suprnova, you CAN commit fraud or find child porn with a computer. Why don't we all ban computers then?

It's Bush moralist extremism at its best. Even the "illegal" stuff ends up be a "try before buy" affair for a lot of folks.

we are just gonna have to put up with illegal downloading of media. it is inevitable. no way around it, without totally restricting our rights on our own possessions.

you're right. there's already one well established site for that, and i believe they do it all with the artists' consent.

Bittorrent works the same way on the Mac as on the PC. First download an app like Tomato Torrent, Azureus or the Official BitTorrent Client (Personally I prefer Tomato Torrent). Then you download the torrent files onto your Mac, open them up and that's about it!

Sorry I'm not sure about OS9 but I'm sure there's a client available as well.

    Edit: check this for OS9.
