I recently purchased a new iMac and a Pioneer stereo receiver. Using either RCA cables or a TosLink optical cable, I can only hear sound out of one channel (left). I have checked the sound settings, don't worry, the balance is fine. What makes it bizzare is that I can plug any other speakers into my iMac and have no problems. On top of that, I can plug any other source (my ipod and my shuffle) into the receiver and have no problems there. Any ideas?

It has to be a mac issue if you're only getting one channel through RCA or optical.

Double check all your settings and preferences.

Through the inboard speakers, are you getting stereo sound?

Yeah, stereo sound through the standard speakers. I have plenty of experience with audio setups, which is why this confounds me so greatly. As a sidenote, I checked to see if my receiver supports 96 mHz digital output, which the iMac apparently uses, and it does...
