Anyone else miss the black of the iPhone 5? I don't want space gray anymore, never really did to begin with. I miss the black slate. Anyone think they'll bring it back for the iPhone 7?

Especially since 'space grey' has got so light its not a million miles off being aluminium.

Apple probably calls it Space Gray simply because it's the Silver model with a black front. ;)

IDK. The 5 on the right is exactly why I got my iPhone 5. Defintely one of the major reasons I skipped the 5s!

5S is much more classy. It looks something expensive and refined.
5 is just a black phone..
I guess that's where we disagree then. I'm much more of a black color fan than I am of gray.

It doesn't matter what I think now though as Apple has seen fit only to offer Space Gray.

I've held on to my 5 though. The 2001 movie monolith think is something I've always liked.

Unless Apple found a black paint that wouldn't peel, otherwise I will stick with space grey.
Remember iPhone 5?

The space gray from the iPhone SE is the lightest shade (like on the 6s), which is lighter than the one from the 5s. Some people will like that, others won't.

I do want black, it's classy and discrete. At least they still offer a nice black leather case.

Im confused why people referred to it as black. Maybe I'm blind but to me its more a of a very very dark grey slate colour? I wish they would do a PURE black colour. Problem is colouring the natural aluminium, so it chips easily. Am I wrong?

With the iPhone 5 the sides, top, bottom and rear windows are black. The slate part comes in as the back.

That's why it's considered to be Black/Slate. Some people count the front as making a phone "black" but as a frequently used euphemism here states "that's like saying your car is black because the tires are black".

The 5s is Space Gray everywhere there is metal so it's Space Gray - period.

But it's that black color that is on the top, sides and bottom of the 5 that everyone likes so much.

I understand what your saying, its all a view point of the from or back or sides. I personally never had a 5, i went from 4S to 5S. I think the 4S black with glass black is apples best design ever. If only it was 4" and as light as the 5s.

I want a 5 now, thanks for that! Feel like I've missed out :D

The Slate iphone 5 was a beauty... But its anodized aluminum was a nightmare: after a few months it was a mess. I don't think Apple is going to do that again...

Well. That's why we have Space Gray. Apple simply chose not to do this again instead of fixing their process.
