iPod touch Bluetooth on iPod Touch G4, use for what?

I tried to BT my new iPT G4 with a Platonics headset, and then a Nokia cell phone, but was unable to discover either of them.

My MBP did see it, but was unable to make a link.

I made a search for info, but not much luck.

What am I doing wrong?
it iPT limited in BT capabilities?

Wanted to:
use Nokia cell as data link with my provide
use head set with Skype

iPod touches are only compatible with some Bluetooth headsets, speakers, and keyboards.
