IMO this equals the debacle that Johnson faced in Vietnam and what Bush faces in Iraq. Both faced off with the Military-Industrial Complex; and the American public lost. Until corrected at least Johnson went in with "pure of heart" and not the "no-bid contracts" of Bush.

When will we wake up and realize that Bush is living in his Dad's or Reagan's shadows. Not his own.

Reminds me more of (I believe it was) Nixon. His promise to withdraw got him re-elected... afterwhich his buildup of troops dwarfed anything previous.

    Thanks for the history lesson.

In 1972 I was given an RNC campaign manual. Wish I had kept it. It basically showed that the US is a "war based" economy. That our greatest prosperity came from war.

To me it just re-enforces the concept of the Military-Industrial Complex.
