My 30G ipod video did something very strange and disturbing this morning when I put it on my bose sounddock -- it made a hissing sound like air being let slowly out of a balloon and now it won't turn on. Any ideas?

I would connect the iPod to your computer and see if it's recognized (if you haven't already). Also, perhaps explain further what you've already done to try and fix it.

Yes, reset the iPod via iTunes. See if that works.

Thanks for responses! I did plug it into my computer and was going to try to restore from itunes, but no luck there -- hardware wasn't recognized . I have a feeling it may have fallen from a high bookshelf. Any other ideas or am I doomed?
