i didn't realize the UK had only 5000 troops there.
all these countries pulling out their troops begs the question: if kerry gets elected and pushes for the UN to take over security in iraq, exactly which nations will volunteer troops?
I hope so.
Actually, the number is 11,000, in total.
that sounds closer to what i was thinking. i read this article snippet: "The main British combat force in Iraq, about 5,000-strong," and got confused.
I think the confusion is because of the use of the word "main." The implication is that there are other British forces that are not being reduced at this time. Still, it is significant that the UK is reducing its commitment of forces while all hell seems to be breaking loose in Iraq.
