Just wanted to double check about this:
A friend of mine got a MB for graduation, white, 2.0Ghz, the basic $1299 one. She already had a laptop, so she is selling this one. It's never been opened before. Price: $1000 and I don't have to worry about taxes.

Now, obviously, taxes and all I save $360 and I didn't need a new iPod anyway so we can ignore the iPod rebate, so I'll say this is a damn good deal for me. I just wanted to ask:
Since it hasn't been opened before or anything, do I get the warranty straight to my name? No problems with that?
Also, since it's probably an earlier edition of the MacBook is it likely that I will have some of the problems that Apple has since fixed, and how many of those problems will Apple fix for me/how long would it take for them to fix these things?

But this is a good deal for me, right? You'd do it too if you were me, right?

Since it hasn't been registered or anything, yeah, the warranty and everything should go right to you I would think.

I wouldn't say it's likely, but it's possible. Remember that MANY earlier Macbooks had no real problems at all, even if these forums made it seem otherwise. The only thing I'd say is likely would be the discoloration, but Apple will fix that for you no questions asked if it happens.

    In a heartbeat.

Alright, thanks, just wanted to be sure.

Actually, I'm only saving $260 because I would have gotten the student discount, but that is still a significant chunk of change.

Indeed, I did buy 2GB of RAM and a 120GB HDD. Maxed out MacBook for way less than it would've cost on Apple, woo.

i think thats a pretty good deal even if you did use an educational discount. If it were used and opened then I can understand why one would be reluctant however its brand new. i would jump on it

By the way all, I bought it and it works great. Haven't got the ram or hard drive yet, but should be here soon.

I'm going to the apple store today though because my power brick was hissing and that seems dangerous.
