    A users experience with BuyMusic.com introduced this week is found at scriptygoddess.com . Sounds like BuyMusic is making all the mistakes you would expect.

    Look at the privacy policy

    “we may disclose, sell, trade, or rent your Personally Identifiable Information to others without your consent”?_

    Sounds like a scam to me.

    I'm lovin' the backlash from a vocal part of the pc crowd.

    Anybody know when they'll post some numbers on how many sales they've made?

    I'd love to see that graphed out as it spikes quickly, slowly and steadily drops, and then tanks when ITMS for the pc comes out.

    Looks like they've messed up even the most basic things. Download album + can't burn to cd = many unhappy customers and credit card chargebacks. One almost gets the impression that Tommy Lee designed the service. :D

    Wow, that is really bad. I can't believe they wouldnt' help her with it. Even worse is their privacy policy, or should I say lack of one.

    There just needs to be a few more sites like buymusic.com and then by the time iTunes for MS is release, the world will come running to it for its ease of use and lack of hurdles and brick walls.

    I guess the bastards don't even want non-MS users looking at their site:

    I faked MSIE 6 via the debug panel and it still bounced me.

    It didn't do that yesterday.

    Erp, no, now I faked it and it let me in.

    A more thorough look around confirms it: this website/service is the pinnacle of mediocrity.

    I smell dot-com bubbles...

    There are so many other companies that do such a better job of copying Apple. I mean seriously...:)

    Are they stupid? How can they miss something so simple? Stupid buymusic.com! Apple-hurry. Ok? You need to hurry.

    I totally agree with that one. Once it is released for Windows (assuming none of the DRM is changed, ihopeihopeihope....) all will be well with the world.

    hmm...

    geez, for the sake of apple to hurry up with windows iTMS, i was kinda wishing buymusic.com to be better than this.

    why would apple feel they have to hurry if this is the best PC world's got? if someone actually made a decent service, apple would hurry! :D

    p.s. above is a joke. well, sort of. it sounds like buymusic.com is absolutely dreadful (borrowing simon there...) and apple needs to hurry.

    aw man buymusic.com worked in safari now it doesn't...
    but what happens is that the buymusic.com site appears then redirects you to the ierequired.html page. so all you have to do is stop loading buymusic.com BEFORE it gets to that page.
    blah...it's javascript...try disabling javascript, maybe it'll work.
    Code:

    <script language="Javascript">
    		<!--
    			var mac = navigator.appVersion.indexOf("Mac")>-1
    			var opera = navigator.userAgent.indexOf("Opera")>-1
    			//IE5+ required, netscape, macs, and opera are not supported
    			if (navigator.appName == "Netscape" || mac || opera) {
    				musicLink = false
    					window.location.href="/ierequired.htm";
    			} else {
    				//find out if its ie, then version 5+
    				var tmpIEVerInfo = navigator.userAgent.indexOf("MSIE ") + 5;
    				if(tmpIEVerInfo != -1)
    				{
    					if(parseInt(navigator.userAgent.substring(tmpIEVerInfo, tmpIEVerInfo+1)) < 5)
    						window.location.href="/ierequired.htm";
    				}
    				else
    				{
    					window.location.href="/ierequired.htm";
    				}
    				musicLink = true
    			}
    			//-->
    		</script>

    The way to go is:
    a) hit stop before it redirects you
    b) Get the Debug menu and select another browser
    c) Take übergeek's advice. (I haven' tested, but I guess if she posted it, it works)

    Scriptyg should upgrade

    So Scriptygoddess concludes by saying she'll wait for the Wintel version of iTMS. Not bad, but I think it would be even better if she upgraded to Mac OSX and got her tunes now!

    What could be better for Apple than being first with a Wintel music store? Being second, after someone else crashed and burned spectacularly!

    Have y'all seen the commercials?!?!?

    They are EXACTLY like the iTMS commecials.

    But they got better people. Sorry apple, your people are just boring. And I can't decide whether the little kid is annoying or the eminem song is annoying.

    But I think this service is on par with apple's. But not better.

    Some people don't need to transfer songs - or even burn them.

    Guess you haven't tried to use it yet. ;)

    The service is terrible, as is Buy.com. Search the web, not a whole lot of positive reviews. Unlike the iTunes Store, which it is compared to every time. And more often than not, BuyMusic seems to come out the lesser of the two. By far. Agree with it not being better, but it is much worse.

    I gave it a chance, never again.

    I've said it before, I'll say it again, BuyMusic.com is doomed to failure.

    zamyatin - I actually use a mac half the time at work (i have both a mac and a pc at my desk) and at home I also have a g4 languishing away (no software or anything on it)

    After the buymusic experience, I AM tempted to dust it off - clean it up - if for no other reason than so I can buy music from iTunes. I'm getting a little impatient with Apple - waiting for them to come out with a version that works on the PC.
