March 11, 2011 (for those who stumble on this thread at iPad3/4/5/whatever launch)

After work tomorrow (11 Mar) right after work I'm debating whether or not to hit Cambridgeside or Boylston St.

Anyone have any inkling (from iPad or iPhone launches) if the Ghettoteria might be too crazy on launch day? I suppose the added bonus is that there's also a Best Buy, so you can try two places in one trip...

Hey what's up Dave! It's Beau from UNH/ITSC, so weird that I saw you on here. I'll be heading down to the Salem, NH Apple store at 4 PM tomorrow, but just wanted to say, hey.

I am going to the Bolyston store, but I figured I would give you guys the heads up to that PAX East is starting tomorrow. That may mean gaming folk will be hitting up the Apple stores and cause longer lines. I'm just happy that it's not at Hynes this year.

A friend of mine works at another store in the Galleria, and she told me that there were already people in sleeping bags at the Apple store when she left at 10pm.

I don't think they will let you sleep in the mall. I know they kicked people out when I was in line for the xbox

So I'm heading down around 3. Thing that's good about the galleria is there's also a best buy, AT&T store(though don't know if it's a corporate store) and Verizon store. Also you won't have to stand in the rain. I just hope I can get one. I sold my iPad 1 last week and I'm having withdrawals!

She told me that they roped off an area, but who knows.

In any case, I'll swing by at noon during lunch to check out the line and post a picture here.
I will be back at 3;30 or 4;00 to get in line.

15 people were in line 10 minutes ago when I went to get lunch. They had all sorts of snacks and smartwater for everyone in line. The people in line didn't even fill up th entire roped off area.

There's over 100 people @ Cambridge side. But apple said they have plenty. Im at Bestbuy here and there are 6 people in line.

So pretty upset @ bb. When I came in I asked a staff member if they where going to have the at&t version today. They called up on there head set and they said yes we will have the AT&T version. So I'm in line for 2 hours and then they announce they only have 5 of each verizon and 5 of each wifi. No AT&T version!!!!!

Boylston St store:
4:20 I was probably 400th in line. An hour after opening I've made it MAYBE halfway there. Should I have gone to Cambridgeside?

(they assure us that there are enough iPads here for everyone in line...)

Oops, I posted to the wrong thread. I was at Boylston St. They were not sold out at 8:30, but they were sold out of AT&T models, which is what I wanted. 4 hours wasted. Not impressed with their inventory tracking.
