My Aikido club wants to buy a digital camcorder, it needs to have DV in/out, be miniDV and preferably hac 16:9 capability (don't ask), 1 megapixel would be cool.

They want to spend around £550-600.

I've been looking at the Sony DCR TRV33, any thoughts?

I have FCP 4 and will be editing in that, so compatibility is a factor.

    Thanks in advance.

I have a TRV-310 and I work with FCP 2 in a G3 500 Powerbook. It is not DV, it is Digital 8 and the quality is awsome.

For that price I think is gonna be hard to find a DV camera but do your home work about it.

I'm not sure how much £550-600 is in US dollars, but here you can get a DV camera for less than $400. I got a really nice Samsung model for $300. 2.5 inch lcd screen,Mini-dv, s-video connection, microphone plug in, a/v in/out, spot to put a flash or light, capable of stills, quality is great in the dark, with or without night vision. Has a lot of effects<but I use Adobe premiere so I don't really put them to use.> Had it since Christmas and no problems so far. ;) Probably something I havent included, but Just wanted to tell you what you can get for around $300-400. Lots of options out there :D . Good places for prices I've found is www.bizrate.com They rate the store too. For opinions: www.eopinions.com
