    Hi there

Im looking at buying a monitor for my macbook core duo 1.83ghz that is at least 19" and if possible 20" or more.... i also like the idea of a widescreen monitor.

Could anyone reccomend a monitor under or around £200 that will have a good resolution with my macbook and work well. i really have little idea whats available.

    is this any good

    Samsung SM205BW 20 inch WSXGA+ TFT LCD Monitor 700:1 300cd/m2 1680 x 1050 6ms DVI (Silver/Black)

    From amazon @ £198

    Will i be best of with a 19" ?

    Is DVI connection best ?

Is it worth getting a widescreen ?

    Any help will be appreciated

Maybe if it's cheaper and the 1" size improvement isn't worth the money, the Macbook supports a resolution of up to 1920x1200 at millions of colours so you'll be fine.

It looks like a nice display, I'm tempted to pick one up myself.

What you think to this one , also on amazon.... how benificial will the extra response time be ? is it best to sacrifise the inch for a better quality display ?

Samsung SyncMaster 940BF 19" LCD Monitor, 2ms response time, 700:1 contrast ratio, DVI/Analogue

You can't go wrong with a 19 inch for a cheap price, the resolution may be lower though but you could save quite a bit instead of getting the 20". Also, don't be fooled by lower ms ratings: between 16, 8 and 2 I REALLY doubt anybody could tell the difference.

That is not to say that if you get a great price on a 2ms display that you should not take it, by all means it is still better than 8ms or more, but IMO not worth paying extra for.

I'd go for the 20" it's only slightly more, it's widescreen and has a better resolution.

The 19" is £185 (including delivery), the 20" is £200

    20" Dell 2007FP 1600x1200 Only $382 (on sale now)

20" 4x3 Dell 2007FP 1600x1200 Only $382 (on sale now) is the best value right now. I love these monitors. They even rotate. Dual inputs (DVI & VGA) + Video, USB Hub and memory card reader all in one. Can't rave enough about it. I have two of them. One is on my PowerBook and another is one of 4 on my Quad G5 Plus it's also hooked to my Dual Core G5 . Multiple inputs is very helpful with you have a gaggle of computers to hook up to them. :)

The 2007WFP gets down to $360 at times. I would wait. I personally like widescreen more, I dont think I could ever go back to 4:3

You can also pickup a refurb 2007WFP in the dell outlet for around $315 shipped. Dells are good. I might be picking up a second one very soon.

Is the Samsung SM205BW compatible with macs? It's website isn't very clear at all.
