iPod Can I delete .itc files?

In the folder iTunes|Album Artwork, I have 2 folders Download and Local, within these there are a whole load of other folders with numbers eg. 07, 09, 03 etc. with files with extension .itc. I've read that they have to do with Coverflow but will deleting them affect anything??

It Will Delete Your Album Artwork I Think As They Are Picture Clippings, Not Sure Though

It will likely remove artwork that has been downloaded from the iTunes Store. But it definitely won't remove the artwork that you've manually embedded into your tracks. I believe that folder is also cache for CoverFlow. So, CoverFlow will be slow the next time you use it as it rebuilds that cache. But I'm fairly certain that deleting that folder wont cause any harm other than that.
