Is the burn import greyed out? Does it give you a warning? Can you import regular or commercial disks? :)

Singing in a joyful tune: "That's what you get for using Windows. Do do do do. Da da da da."

Climbing the charts as we speak? I think so.

haha no i dont use windows....i burned a cd for a friend.

she can import it but what it looks like it does is import a shortcut to the song.

for expample it just flies through importing.

also when i view the cd through my computer it just displays "shortcut" like data.

i dont know what to say, ive never seen this before...

How exactly are you trying to import - drag-and-drop, big import button, some other way? :)

the thing is i am wondering if this is new to itunes to prevent piracy or is it just that specific computer?

has anyone burned a cd then imported on a pc?

I just tested this out on a PC and it worked normally.

We need to establish whether it's a problem with the burning process or the importing process. Can it import commercial CDs? Can CD players (and iTunes) play the tracks, even if they can't be imported?

If you can import commercial CDs then maybe try slowing down the burning process.

If you're struggling with all importing, then maybe look at the iTunes Preferences and ensure that Copy files to iTunes Music folder is checked in the Advanced section, under General. :)

Can you import MP3s from the hard disk? If you import the music in WMP, can you then add them to the iTunes library?

Sorry for all the questions but this has got me a little stumped.
