This man is a continued embarrassment to us Canadians and is quickly digging his own grave. Right off the bat he has worked to undermine efforts to keep government transparent and accountable even though he campaigned on improving accountability.

I can't wait to send this clown packing.

I must admit though that I'm happy with how his government is shaping up. With any luck, he'll put such a bad taste in everyone's mouth that we wont see another conservative government in decades. (hopefully ever) ;)

Yay, 1st political forum post :D

ahhh yes Stephen Harper....I didn't vote for him, but he's doing a better job then Paul Martin.

Personally I think this whole issue is just more sour grapes in the media than anything. The Canadian press has long been allowed to mock our leaders to their face (I've seen video clips of the press literally laughing at the PM during a press conference) and now Harper is simply tightening things up.

It's not that he's completely cock blocking the media, he's just not playing by their rules, which I think he has every right to do.

I thought the whole point of being a leader is having to deal with the public. If he is the great leader that all the conservatives say he is than why can't he deal with the "biased" press and show them that they don't bother him instead of hiding.

Suck it up man your the PM do your job.

Not according to the article, which says he's more popular than ever. I found this most curious, and hoped some of our neighbors in the Frozen North could fill us in on the intricacies of Canadian politics.

Is that because he's viewed as a "tough guy" like Bush is? Unless I'm mistaken, the majority of his support comes from Canada's heartland. Is Canada becoming as polarized as the US is?

What/where is Canada's heartland? His support came from outside the urban centres if that's what you're referring too as heartland (not one conservative seat was won within the 3 largest cities, Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver) but that's one hell of a heartland then. He's just a jackass. Basically like Bush. Religious, conservative, wants to build the army to go blow stuff up, no social spending, cut taxes for businesses, increase it for middle class and poor. Just a right royal *******. Well, just my personal feelings, obviously...

I guess I was referring to Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba specifically and rural areas in general. Alberta's oil wealth seems to have created a Canadian version of neo-conservatism.

Could be. Canada is closer to the North Pole to begin with.

Of course if he's bipolar, that would explain why he can't bare speaking to them.

Either way, the Canadians deserve someone who will rose to the occasion.

Don't worry. Two wars, several trillion C$ in debt and a destroyed Canadian city later, he'll finally be on the rocks and you can start the process of booting him out the door.
