I saw a piece on this on TechTV the other day.

I wonder if there'll be any reaction by the drive manufacturers (e.g. a price drop on the bare drives)?

Here's hoping. Those drives are ridiculously overpriced.
I wouldn't mind seeing more affordable storage available by the time I need to buy a new digital camera.

I think the market for 'bare' 4gb microdrives is much smaller than the market for personal music players. This may spike MuVo's sales by several thousand in the short-run, but I don't think there will be a long-term impact. It probably won't be long before the consumer price for the drives comes down to the $200 range anyway.
