Canon SD400 with iPhoto 2 - can't download pics

Need help! I have an iMac with iphoto v2 and i just got a new canon SD400 digital camera. I'm having trouble. I can't seem to get iphoto to recognize the camera when I'm connected to the computer so I can't download the pics from the card to the computer. Any thoughts on what to do would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just got an SD550 and it only gets recognized if that button on top of the camera is set to play. Make sure the camera is on and then plug it into the usb2 port.
