Hi,
I just bought a Philips PBDV160VB dual layer DVD rewriter and am having trouble getting it working with my Powerbook.
It's going into a USB2 drive caddy which works perfectly with the PB. But when I insert and hook up the DVDRW drive to it, OS X refuses to detect the new drive. The drive is getting power from the caddy but Toast doesn't detect it, if I put an Audio CD in there, there is no sign of it mounting and System Profiler doesn't detect the drive (though it does detect the caddy).
If I put a Maxtor internal hard drive into the caddy then OS X picks up the volume on it fine.
I've experimented with all the different jumper settings but to no avail. Anyone got any hints? I'm rather stumped.
Thanks
Jonathan.
