I'm having a problem with mounting network storage controlled by windows server 2003. When I use Leopard I have no problems. When I use tiger it doesn't work properly. here are the details

    Leopard:

I use the following string in the “connect to server” dialog:

    smb://server1/data$/dept/teachers/jones1

I get prompted for the windows domain, user name and password. After entering the info, the disk mounts correctly. if I use "get info" on the mounted disk the path is displayed as:

    smb://server1/data$/dept/teachers/jones1

    Tiger:

In tiger I use the same string:

    smb://server1/data$/dept/teachers/jones1

Again, I get prompted for the windows domain, user name and password. After entering the info it only mounts the “data$” disk (which isn't really a directory). Further, even though I issue the command as "smb" it seems to default to “cifs". Using get info on the mounted disk, the path appears as

    cifs:\\abcschool;jones1@server1/data$

“abcschool” in the string above is the windows domain

Last, I have also tried issuing the string as a cifs: string:

    cifs://server1/data$/dept/teachers/jones1

    but that doesn’t work either.

    any suggestions?

    hal
