Can't log in to Powerbook following update!

Following the update to my powerbook, I am no longer able to login under my username. I type the password and it begins to log in and then immediately returns to the login window. I have tried logging in as guest and it is no problem, but my main account just cycles back over and over...

Weird problem mate. Maybe try booting from the OSX discs and using Password Manager to reset the account's password.

See that's what is so weird. I log in and it accepts the password perfectly and begins to transition from the login screen to my account, but then stops, turns blue and the login screen pops back up.

I was thinking along similar lines with using the startup disk, but to run disk repair. That repaired some issues, specifically something called a thread. I then tried to log in and it still would not work.

Okay, well keep repairing the disk until it makes no changes. Then maybe try the password change.

there is no problem with the password, it logs in just fine, but then it returns back to the login window. I have repaired the disk an no errors came back at all.

I am really perplexed here!
