Is there a simple, inexpensive way to clip out piecs of video from DVD's? I found several options at Best Buy for PC's (Pinnacle MovieBox video capture device), but none for Mac's. I'd like to be able to clip out pieces of either DVD movies from friends or other sources, and save them to my Mac. Is this doable in the Mac realm?

handbrake/mediafork will rip and encode the dvd into an .mp4 file. Then you can use MPEG Streamclip to take out the bits you want.

    Simple and free :)

Also, in Handbrake there is an option for you to just rip chapters of DVD's instead of the whole thing. This way ripping is much faster, from here you can import it into iMovie to edit however you might need it.
