My poor girlfriend has a very crappy factory stereo/speakers in her car (2000 Toyota Echo). For her birthday I'd like to get her a good car stereo and the new iPod nano 5g. Currently she uses a tape-adapter and it's almost sad how bad the whole setup sounds :/ Plus her iPod nano 3g is crapping out...

Anyway, my problem is with finding a good head unit. Here's what I'm looking for it to have:

    • CD Player
    • Audio is sent through sync cable slot, not headphone jack
    • Can charge the nano 5g while in use
    • iPod control (ability to control music through iPod still)
    • Can still shake to shuffle
    • iTunes tagging for radio

I know it's quite a list, but a stereo like that would be so great! Does anybody know of one that will do all that? iTunes tagging would be nice but the main deal-breakers are charging and iPod control (I think this is called passenger mode sometimes). Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.

    my solution

I would get an ALPINE Digital Media Receiver. I have one w/o CD but it works really great with my iTouch, it is conected via USB, it gets charged, it gets fully controlled via the radio and you even have the cover art on the radio display and the sound is awsome (of course it's an Alpine).

You can get the radios with and without CD.
