I have a new MB (black) with 2 GB or RAM ... I was anxious to see the speed of importing my music .. I was not that impressed. It actually is not much faster than my 1 Ghz G4 iMac (lamp style) with 768 MB of RAM..
What is the average speed you all experience? I am encoding my songs at 256 AAC ... My import times average 8. X up to bursts of 10 or 11X
Is this normal? My energy settings are set to optimal performance as well..
