CD Organizing Software?

I was wondering if there was any software for OS X that let you index and organize data CDs and DVDs (not music, not movies). I've looked and lookd but couldn't find any. I have near 100 CDRs and DVDRs with files on them and it makes it hard to find anything. I've tried keeping a spreadsheet of the CD and what was on it, but that takes a lot of time to copy and paste filenames from the CD into the spreadsheet.

So, I was thinking of programming a small little app that indexes and organizes removable media. You could search it and also organize the files into your own structured tree, independent of where it was stored on the media. Then you could select a bunch of files and click "restore," which would prompt you for a directory where you wanted to restore them (or it could just give you a list of CDs they were on).

Does such a program exist for OS X? Would anybody find it useful if I threw together a little program that did this?

Awesome. I swear I searched for hours, but with generic terms like "CD organizer" "CD cataloger" and "CD indexer" I was getting a ton of hits, none of which I wanted.

    Thanks for the link.

Maybe I'm missing the point, but what's wrong with a Sharpie and a drawer or book to keep the disks in?

You don't have a comprehensive list. You can't easily search hundreds of CDs for a certain clip you were thinking of. The CDs could span multiple boxes or books or spindles (mine already do). It's nice to be able to type the name of a file and be told exactly the name of the CD and its location.

Also I just like things organized and indexed.

Okay, I see it now. I don't have the need so I couldn't see the use at first.
