I want to upgrade the harddisk in my MBP, cause it's my sole computer and the current 100GB hdd already almost full! and i haven't even installed Boot camp yet :(

anyway i just want to know how to change the HD in MBP,
cause the apple centre in my country doesnt have the latest 160GB drive from Hitachi/seagate yet, i;m thnking to buy it in other store and bring my MBP and the new HD to apple centre to get it installed.
They will do this right ???
another question is how about the warranty >
i hope the MBP is still covered with the apple warranty, and it's okay if the HD isn't covered.

the procedure is simple like the PC right ?
i mean they just take out the old one and put in the new one , and i just pop up th OSX installation CD tht come with my MBP and everything should be ok?
or is there something i must do first with the new HD ???

and also how about the "Sudden Motion Sensor" will it still availabel in my new HDD ?

    I'm thinking to get a hitahchi or seagate 160GB /SATA /5400.r.p.m

    thanx for the helps.

The warranty won't be void if you get it replaced by a certified technician. The SMS will carry through because that's a part of the logic board, not the actual drive. Nevertheless, I'd think about getting an external case with a much larger desktop-sized drive. It'll be bigger and cheaper. :)

if you could bare an external I'd go with that. but you wanna run bootcamp and I hear that can be a bit tricky and time consuming. I dont have any link on how to change it out but I'm sure it couldn't be to hard :)
