I have bought a legit copy of Mac Office 2004. When I install it, it uses a pre-existing key on the mac

How can I change the product key to reflect the one I've just paid for?

i suspect you'll have to uninstall all traces of the older copy first even if it's just preference files that still exist, then you can install the new copy using its own key

if i remember correctly , MS Office comes with an uninstaller that will remove all of a previous installation

there's an invisible file that it uses for registration, If I remember correctly its called "pfid." Get Tinkertool, show invisible files, and look for the file in the Microsoft office folder. Just as well delete any associated .plist files.
