I only occasionally have a need for the Character Palette. I was using it recently for inserting symbols into a Keynote talk I needed to prepare. Now, however, the palette won't go away. I can close it with the (X) on the window or "hide" it from the menubar menu, but after each login it reappears floating on top of everything. Any idea how to kill it for good? Or at least until I actually need it again? I've even killed it from the Activity Monitor? What keeps firing it up?

Okay...well the obivous (a reboot) did fix it, but why in the world would it keep reappearing with each login before the reboot?
