    damn, I didn't think I'd ever see it! :D

your server going to be able to handle the load?

I see that you've made a better ending, nice. Where did you get the music?

    And what did you animate?

    Looks good, though.

i doubt that many people will care to see it.. server should be ok

music written and composed by a student at nyu. performed by some people he knows i guess....

what i animated/did is in the "work sheet" pdf that's on the site...

i animated about half the scenes, and basically did all the lighting, rendering, compositing, most of the particles/fluids, most of the rigging... etc

Nice job on the particles....that a painful process to get it all set up and run right. So what's the next project?

    well a few unrelated projects...

    1. working on getting more of my stuff on the web... not necessarily a fancy site, but just getting it out there... getting the clammy site up got me inspired to do that.

    2. doing special effects for a student's film... it's all shot, he's just getting the stuff to me, and then i'll start work on it... should be done by late june or july..

    3. looking for a job (i guess this is really #1)...

    4. working on my own project(s).. none in particular yet, but thinking of ideas... or at the very least, create a character and just animate some simple, yet fun things... basically reel building...

That was really great -- I thought you did a good job choreographing the music and the animation together.... :)

J Lo, that is great. I really like how the action works with the music.

Good Luck finding a job. You have real talent.

    hah. pixar.. hmmmm

    thanks again, though. :)

the music is about the last thing i can take credit for... as much as i'd like to.

we gave the finished film to a composer and he did all that work. i had some minimal input as far as giving him feedback, but that's about it. i'm all visual.

i meant to say in the first post, feel free to ask any questions... wasn't sure how many people would see/care so i didn't want to have the initial post be too long winded, but that doesn't mean i won't talk about it.

thanks for taking the time to look/respond!

It's practically a full length movie! Very well done. The lighting on the ocean floor is so realistic, it really seems to be coming from the surface.

But an animated fish movie? Naw, movies about fish will never catch on! ;)

I went to a Maya seminar and it was amazing to see what it can do in the proper hands. So far, I can draw a few shapes and combine them in various ways, and I feel accomplished for getting that far in a couple of weekends of playing with it. I admire people who have mastered it to do real work!

doctor q- in all fairness to myself... we were already well on our way when we found out that pixar's latest was going to be finding nemo.... we were a bit worried that people would just blow us off as copycats... but nevertheless, we watched the trailer (and then the movie) many times, and i actually like some of the things we did a little more than what they did. that said, their results look so... awesome. anyways...

teabgs- good call on the protovin, though who outside of nyu will know what it is?? hah. who won it this year?

trebble/mr. a- yeah, i am submitting to festivals... as you maybe saw on the main page, we were already in the nyu film festival (were semi finalists... but no chance against 15-30 minute, $40k+ budget films). we were also in a little festival (of sorts) at the lincoln center... a link is on my website... pretty sweet

we've submitted to an animation festival on the east coast for asifa east... and to the siggraph student animation theater... and i'm sending a tape to the chicago international children's film festival in the coming days... and a festival in croatia.

i'm sure we'll go for more (we missed the student academy awards... but maybe next year)...

actually, i'm flying out to LA in early june for a spin off of the nyu festival. they're showing all the semi finalists' films at the directors guild and there will be some awards i guess (including an audience choice award, the only one we'd have a chance at.. hah)

feel free to suggest any festivals you know of though... :)

Thats why you EXPLAIN it

Lil' jimmy here got the protovin award for excellence in animation last year...

    see it's not so hard.

Jane won it this year. her stuff has gotten very very good this year! it's a very nice film, or will be when it's finished...

Can you get protovin without a doctor's prescription? I forgot, is that for hypertension or male pattern baldness? ;)
