Hold up, we have to update our Wiis? I thought the whole point of this WiiConnect24 thing was that it updated by itself overnight.

Ah.....I thought my Wii was possessed. It has this consistent glowing pattern from the disc drive going since the middle of the night.

    Opinions on the WC?

I only had time for the briefest of looks, but very nice. Very google earthy, but it makes for very simple navigation. The earth revolves very smoothly, and having the stars and space around it is a nice touch.

It will be great if the News works the same way –*would be nice to spin the globe and pick a spot to see what is happening at that moment in time...

OK, I don't have a Wii, but this is pretty cool. I've been asking the Xbox 360 devs (through Major Nelson) to add more Internet functionality to the 360, such as Internet radio, a web browser, and an e-mail client, ever since the 360 came out.

It would be cool if we (not Wii) had 360 "widgets" for stuff like news, weather, sports, etc... EA Sports have built sports tickers into their 07 games, and that's a really cool feature. You can even listen to ESPN Radio in Tiger Woods 07 on the 360.

How detailed is it? from a video I saw a while back the UK's weather was summed up as "London". Anyone tell me if it shows Manchester or anywhere non-London?

I didn't check to see if Manchester was on it, but I did have to select London from a list of UK cities, so the odds are that it will be on there. There definitely are multiple cities listed for each country... :)

Yeah, this is a good point, it doesn't sound to be panning out quite as advertised on that front.

    Yeah. Dublin

Only 4 hours away from me completely on the other side of the country.

Why not more countries, hell even mac widget clock and weather has my village in Kerry listed.

Unless they add more its a bit useless for me.

    Rechecked.

    MANCHESTER is on. :)

Also Tralee, my nearest town is on - so not as bad as I first thought from my initial inspection.

Actually there's a heap more Irish places listed than UK on my screen?

Like UK consists of London, Cambridge, Liverpool, Manchester, Edinburgh & Belfast (5 mainland UK + 1 northern ireland)

Whereas Ireland consists of (1 nothern ireland and 31 republic), Belfast, Buncranna, Letterkenny, Sligo, Ballina, Castlebar, Carrik on Shannon, Monaghan, Roscommon, Athlone, Navan, Dundalk, Drogheda, Dublin, Mullingar, Naas, Bray, Wicklow, Carlow, Portlaoighise, Birr, Galway, Nenagh, Ennis, limerick, Kilkenny, Clonmel, Waterford, Wexford, Cork, Boyle, Tralee.

So why a smaller country with a population of 4 million has 6x the amount of places listed than a country with 60-70 million people ? FREAKY............

Also manchester doesnt have a 5 day forecast, yet the town closest to me with maybe 1/10th pop of manchester has a full 5 day forecast.

Took ages to download though

I live next to Irvine California, so was suprised I didn't see it as an option, but only because the tiny northern port town my parents live in is available.

There could be a great use for it,

Like animal crossing knew the time and date from your cube/ds

A wii version could localise even further and have the weather from your area integrated into the game.

So if it's pissin rain outside, it's pissin it down in game too. Could add a further layer. Although its always raining in Ireland so it might get repetative ;)
