well, this is getting interesting. and what a load of crap about executive authority. if accepted, does it not mean that bush and cheney could reveal any old secret at all, with no regard to damage, and have it automagically protected as executive privilege?

cheney should just go ahead and claim executive privilege for everything he does, including shooting people.

Would you like your pun toasted?

The executive order is a secret, no doubt. We'll just have to trust that it exists.

That's kinda what I was worried about, IJ. Not the puns, but the secrets.

Nah, even if these guys had a (D) after their names, they'd still be evil. And I have decided to change my vote from incompetent to evil. Not to say there isn't still incompetence, but now I'm convinced it's just a byproduct of the evil.

Doesn't matter what executive order was made, the president doesn't get to secretly create new laws that completely go against the existing ones. The VP is basically saying he gets to do whatever he wants because the President says so. Which would present a dangerous precedent. Which is why people aren't allowed to do it. But hey, they gotten away with this much so far. I kinda don't blame them for basically thinking they can do whatever they want. Keep waiting for that wakeup call that never seems to come.
