Chertoff Says FEMA's Lack of Planning to Blame

    I still think Chertoff should not be allowed to distance himself so far from the center of blame and should, in the same breath and scope of naming culprits, be mentioning names like Andrew Card Jr. Bush Chief of Staff or higher.

    Well, all right, Cherthoff may have his own failures, but give him points for admitting that it was FEMA, not state and local authorities, that blew it, and suggesting that experienced people (read: not political cronies) should be in charge.

    Nevertheless, it is still amazing. "Lack of planning"? Isn't planning, like, the reason they exist??? Or am I misunderstanding the "EM" part of their name? :rolleyes:
