I've heard from a couple of Windows-using friends that this is a really good game. The developer has said that they'll make a Mac version if there's demand for it, so what do you all think?

    I would get it...

I would love to play this game on the mac. Comic books and mmorpgs are two passions of mine and i'm currently looking for a good mmorpg to play to hold me over to world of warcraft is released.

Well, I think Freedom Force did well, and it's a similar game. I don't see why not. E-mail the porting houses and request it and bring it to their attention.

This game looks awesome. I would love to play it on the mac, but it doesn't look like they've ported any of their other games.

Recently my friend and I made top five in a game competition Hidden Agenda. And so they fly us to Houston on the 28th where I will meet the imfamous Richard Garriott - who programmed/developed/funded City of Heros. The winner will be chosen at his house.

But anyway, I will make a plea on our behalf for a mac port! I am stoked to meet this dude... I wanna be a game programmer when I grow up! If you check out hidden agenda, we wrote Texas Hold'em. I am Glen Cox. glencox@uwyo.edu

(I am only providing this information to validate myself... this is for real)

I've never heared something about "City of Heroes"
Anyways if we are talking about porting PC Games to a Mac, then they should port Far Cry & BF Vietnam.. Both Games are great :D

Most people who have PC's haven't heard of City of Heroes yet either. It's brand spankin new. I know a few people who are board w/starwars galaxies so they are going to switch to COH. In time, all will know about this cool MMORPG. :D

Don't do it, it's worse than crack!!

Everyone I know is addicted to this game, it's great. My friends and I are all looking into buying two accounts just so we can get our wives off our machines.

The game is really cool and has actually reprioritized my next machine. I've dumped the idea of getting a powerbook and I'll be updating the second PC now before buying a new G5. It's that good.

They ported Lineage, which I think was their first game. I had never heard of it until now.

    :D

Weird?!? I was just playing this game at my friends house 15 minutes ago. It's a great game. Graphics are good considering it's an MMORPG. We're trying to levelup to 15 so our character can fly, not just hover.

The email address for the dev's is support@plaync.com

We should all email them and request a mac version.

    WOW!!! Already got a reply:

    Dear Will,

As of right now, there are no plans for City of Heroes to be released on any platform other than the PC. However, this does not rule out future expansion to other platforms if there is a strong market interest.
Please let us know if you have any further queries.

    Regards,
    Romeo

I find the "strong market interest" bit encouraging :)

Please excuse this slightly vulgar off-topic comment. Hopefully some demented individual will find it amusing....

I was scanning the list of Mac Games threads and saw one that was both shocking and strangely fascinating. It was this one. I clicked it immediately only to discover that the thread was not actually called
    "City of Herpes".

That would surely be the least popular RPG of all time.

I've had friends tell me that CoH is much better than WoW. Now you're telling me that WoW is better than CoH! I suppose everyone has their preferences, but it's still good to support Mac gaming in general - we will hopefully get more games that way :)

I've been following City of Heroes since March of 2002. Got into beta this past March 5th and playing ever since. (On my wife's peecee btw) CoH is a cool game and yes it would be cool if it was ported over. IMHO, I don't think it will be anytime soon.

As far as game play it is cool being able to create your own character from scratch. I've only run into one character, Hyperactive on the Freedom server, who looked even remotely like my character. Where the game lacks is in it's missions. You have to hunt x# of (insert villian type, such as Freakshow, Banished, Circle of Thorns, etc) or rescue "insert npc name here" from "insert villian group name here" OR defeat "insert villian group name". That's really about it. The task force missions are cool but verrry long (the first one is about 6-9 hours long to complete).

I'll pobably stop playing if this new update (through the looking glass) doesn't spice things up. It's a cool game and wish they would port it over but it's just not quite fun for me in the later levels.

I got home late last night from the competition, and Richard Garriott told me that it's unlikely they will release a port to City of Heroes. And, my friend and I lost the competition. But it wasn't completely pointless... making top five nationally will look good on the resume...

One thing i found interesting is that he said NCSoft wants to end up releasing one new MMO game per quarter. That's one hell of alot of MMO's. But who really knows... the industry changes fast. Even though that's what he said, it could change (and that goes for the mac port too).

I really think that companies lose out when they ignore the Mac market. And I say that because mac users are generally loyalists. If you get our trust, you get our commitment, appreciation, and money. Most PC gamers are loyalists only to piracy and porn. I still have yet to find a pc user who acutally bought Warcraft I/II/III/Diablo/II/Quake/II/III/DukeNukem3d/Half-Life/etc etc... Oh well.

I recently purchased City of Heroes and have been playing it on my PC for about two weeks. The game is wonderful, and recommend anyone with access to a PC to get it. Because of this game i've been spending so much less time on my powerbook, and that makes me sad, but i don't really care becuase the game is great. Buy it if you have PC access!!!

    Dear Jordan,

Thank you for your concern in the game.

Currently, the City of Heroes is unsupportive on the Macintosh version. However, we request you to remain updated on our message boards, so as to be informed when we do that in the future.

Please let us know if you have some other query. Take care.

    Regards.

Stupidly, you can't post on the message boards without a copy of the game.
