A friend gave us his old 20GB 4th gen iPod.
He was going for more space.

I've noticed that the earphone jack is somewhat delicate
in holding the earphone plug - a little sensitive to movement -
and also somewhat oxidized (black on the internal gold contacts).

Any comments on the "holding pressure" of the contacts
and also how we might be able to attempt to clean
some of the black oxidation from the internal jack contacts ?

WD40 on the end of a Q-tip worked well for me. Using some special cleanner might work too, but yeah...I used WD40. My ipod didnt have any oxidation on it though..just a crapload of dirt.
