well, i didn't see this one coming. i'm hoping the sell-off of stations is good news, in that local ownership will once again be responsible for content.

Private equity firms buy management teams, not so much the companies. They believe they have good management and can grow the business and earn a tidy profit before bailing. I doubt you'll see any change in how CC operates.

I wonder what they see in CC? If I listen to radio, it's only NPR. The iPod has so radically changed my approach to music and news I find it hard to believe that CC has the value they say it does.

I don't think they're buying it for aesthetic reasons. It's a revenue stream. Plain and simple.

they have some other (huge) revenue streams:
    1. billboards
    2. concert events
    3. concert promotions

plus, it looks like they'll still have the larger market stations, on which they sell a lot of advertising (and promote their concerts, of course, plus creating demand for the concerts by playing that artist's music).
