Anybody out there feeling creative? I need a name for my newly formed ice hockey team. It is a men's "D" (lowest level) league team. I am having a creative block. I thought of 3: Blue Thunder, Lucky Strike, The Jolt, and The Ice Holes :D. I am open to any creative names that anybody can come up with. Or you can let me know which of my names you like or dislike. All comments and help are appreciated. Have fun!

Unfortunately, it's not a Apple or Mac-centered team . Just a bunch of middle-aged guys, who love hockey. Thanks for the input, though!

Sorry, but that's the worst hockey team name.....possibly ever. May as well go all out and name themselves the Granny Smiths, if they're going to get laughed at. :p

Ice Holes sound good. Blue Thunder reminds me of that stare he does in Zoolander, although I forget the name of it.

    The MotherPuckers.

Duff-Man says...you could "borrow" a name from Mark Messier's old Lays commercial and call yourselves the "Pylons"....oh yeah!

    Ice hockey? Middle-aged?

Obviously, you want to be The Ice Ages.

Beware! When spoken too fast, this might sound a lot like it starts with an 'A'....and we wouldn't want that, would we?

What about 'The Dry-Ice Demons' or 'The Sleeping Dogs'?

The Geezers. :p Actually, if you're English, you could use Geeza and it wouldn't be an insult whatsoever...

How about Veni Vidi Vici? I've always thought that would be a cool name for something, although probably not a hockey team. Lets just hope that I never have 3 kids, otherwise.... ;)

Wow. thanks guys. I thought of a couple of more this morning: the Attack, the Sting, and the Invasion. What do think? I have a pretty hefty list now. I'll go through them and narrow them down to 3 or 4, then ask my Assistant Captain which he likes. Thanks again.

Maybe when you get the list down to 5 or so you could get Macrumors to host a poll....

You can't make an official macpoll.com poll (although you can suggest one by sending e-mail to ideas@macpolls.com) and you can't create a thread with one of those multi-choice questions at the top, but you don't need to. Just post in this thread when you have your final choices and tell us the ground rules, such as one vote per person and when voting ends.

Since you seem keen on names beginning with "The", how about nicking a name from one of those "The" bands that seem to be so big right now. Surely, The Animals, The Jam, The Hives, The Rapture, The Tragically Hip, The Walkmen, The Kills, or any other "The" band wouldn't mind if you used their name for inspiration.

How about The Slashers, The Threat, The Flying V's, The Geriatrics. :p

    EDIT TO ADD: The Gerihat-tricks!!

    I've narrowed it down to:

    • The Attack
    or
    • Blue Thunder

Which do you vote for? Any logo ideas for your pick? Let me know. Thanks!
