Smart move IMO. If there's going to be a news Wii Channel, why not got your company on there.

Oh bugger no. Why couldn't they get a decent news provider like BBC? I mean whilst on holiday the only English TV channel you get is CNN and it's full of patronising presenters and news delivery methods, lies (one advert telling you to come to the Middle East, next is a news broadcast telling you "more deaths in the Middle East".), adverts, ADVERTS. It's disgusting. If I see the CNN logo once and their over-sensationalising of the news I will not be touching the news channel at all.

While it pains me to . . . quasi-stick up for CNN, I don't think they're on the same level as Fox Entertainment(News). CNN, for it's many, many faults, is still far above Fox. To be honest, other than all the far Left and far Right "news" websites around, I don't think anyone comes close to Fox. On TV, they are unmatched for BS.

Edit: I guess I should talk about the point of the thread, huh? CNN? ummm, wooo. I guess. How about they spend the energy trying to put CNN in there and instead use it to bring me Mario Galaxy at launch. Or even BWii (anyone know when that's coming out?).

haha, I hit "quote" instead of "edit". Any Mod want to fix this?

I just thought it was interesting to have that kind of a third party on board; I hadn't even thought of it. This wasn't supposed to get political.

You are right, CNN isn't on the same playing field as Fox. Just CNN is such...crap. I mean god forbid something happens with it being "BREAKING SHOCKING EXPLOSIVE NEWS!" BLOODY UNMATCHED MAYHEM IN IRAQ! BUSH ADMIN. CALLS IT "a permanent misplacement of life", AND NEXT! E-COLI! ARE YOU THE NEXT VICTIM OF THIS DIEASE FROM HELL?! SEE THE EDITORIAL YOU CANNOT MISS!

And now, and ad from Viagra.

Couldn't agree more :). I just like that they don't at the same time tell you it's one party or person's fault, or that you have to believe in a certain religion to matter.

I try to avoid CNN dot com because of the annoying ads and pop-ups. It feels very unprofessional. They sometime have the same ad 3 times on the same page in different sizes. :/

Dindn't CNN deny this rumor earlier today?

I agree with all the above posts against CNN. It's become worse and worse. When I watch the news, I usuauly watch MSNBC. I think it's really improved the last few years.

This guy should run for president. :D

OMG you just summed up CNN perfectly! brilliant!

BBC are better. they don't oversensationalise or have adverts. Plain simple news. The chocolate digestives of news.

Yeah but isn't BBC paid by taxes? (A public service?) Therefore less adverts.

The BBC is the best news service in the world, plain and simple. There are others who are up there with them, but none of the others can say they are totally impartial because they aren't relying on outside revenue from advertising like the BBC can.

That said here in the UK I think Channel 4 evening news is the best news show.

Just for John Snow. But Huw Edwards is my main man, and John Simpson just constantly reminds me of David Attenborough (the greatest man alive IMO).

What I love about C4 news is the sense of humour. I think most people imagine that the more intellectual a news programme is the more dry and stuffy it must be, but that's not the case at all. Newsnight on BBC2 often presents the news in comedic ways, and C4 cant get through a whole episode without some stupidness. Take for example when John Snow introduced the news that a woman had just had the worlds first face transplant, what does he do? He sings "Now I've seen her a face, I'm a believer!". That is the sorta news we need on the Wii! :p

I don't care who's providing the news channel as long as I can choose not to have the news channel. I don't need breaking news from the Wii. I have regular TV for that, thanks very much.

And jimmi, if you read the article, it says

    Nothing about UK/EU yet.

Just another example of how advertisers are pushing into the console market. They have been getting into the actual games for quite a while now.

Tivo is killing the tv commercial market so we are going to continue to see advertisers sqeeze into everything at which we look.
