I will be starting school in a few weeks at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and I was wondering if there is any 3rd party software you guys could recommend that I might find useful. Anything from Note Taking, to Organizing, etc. I am going to be usig my computer for just about everything, if that helps. Thanks!

I don't know about your school, but certain majors at my school require students to take a comoputer science class. For this class, it's a requirement to learn Access, only available on the Windows version of MS Office.

I'm wondering if you are majoring in Computer Eng. if the hardware/software that you will be working on most often, that of the schools, will be mostly Windows based.

    Just wondering.

I would definitely say that OpenOffice will come in handy on your Mac, for non-technical courses.

It's good to have the private browse option in Safari incase your girl wants to use your machine.
